Graduate Summer Research Grant Development Program

WHAT: This is a grant-writing incentive program that awards a $1,000 scholarship to eligible SBS Graduate Students to work, during the summer months immediately following the award, on developing a research grant to be submitted to at least three outside funding agencies by Spring of the coming academic year. The amount requested of the outside agencies is expected to be at least $3,500 each. Proposals that have already been developed or are near completion are NOT eligible for this competition.

Recipients of a Summer Research Grant Development Award are required to participate in grant-writing workshops (May 7 and 8), and to participate in the review sessions for draft proposals (TBA). Attendance is required, so please check scheduled dates BEFORE submitting a proposal.

HOW:

Proposal applications and a letter of support from the Dissertation Committee Chair are submitted to the SBSRI, Social Sciences 115C.

WHEN: APRIL 2, 2008
WHO:

Eligible applicants are graduate students who are majoring in one of the disciplines in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, who have made satisfactory progress towards the Ph.D. for 2 or more years, and who will be registered students at the University of Arizona during AY 2008-09. Eligibility of S.L.A.T. Students will be determined on an individual basis and BEFORE a proposal is submitted to the SBSRI grant program. Contact the SBSRI Office for specifics. This is a one-time award; previous awardees are not eligible to reapply.
