Class Use:
The primary function of the lab is to
serve as a facility where faculty in SBS departments may bring their classes for
computer related instruction. Instructors may also arrange for one of the ICL
Lab Assistants to conduct a session for their class in a computer-related topic
such as word processing, listserv, database, excel, using the web,
and/or web page development. The lab is also used for faculty and staff
workshops.
Reservations:
Click
here to reserve the lab. You may also contact Young-Gie Min at 621-3898 to reserve lab space or for more
information on arranging a Lab Assistant-taught session in the ICL.
Open Access:
When no
classes or workshops are scheduled in the lab, open access hours are held so
that SBS students may use the lab to complete course-related assignments. Normal
hours during fall and spring semesters are 8 AM to 7 PM Monday through Thursday

during spring break and between semesters. The
lab is open for classes during the summer, but on a reduced hours schedule.

projects involving human subjects (including offering extra credit to students
for participation in the research project) must provide proof of compliance with
U of A Human Subjects Committee policies.

membership fee to the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)
so that UA faculty and students can download ICPSR datasets directly from the ICPSR web site
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu if accessing it from a campus computer. If you have trouble downloading datasets from the ICPSR of if you need help converting the downloaded files to SAS or SPSS format,
send a mail to Young-Gie Min at
ymin@email.arizona.edu.
The UA Library also provides access to the
Social Science Electronic Data
Library (SSEDL) through Sociometrics. SSEDL subscribers can download datasets from the
following archives.
American Family Data Archive (AFDA)
AIDS/STD Data Archive (AIDS)
Contextual Data Archive
Complementary and Alternative Medicine Data Archive
Child Well-Being and Poverty Data Archive
Data Archive of Social Research on Aging (DASRA)
Data Archive on Adolescent Pregnancy and Pregnancy Prevention (DAAPPP)
Maternal Drug Abuse Data Archive (MDA)
