Mini Grants
| WHAT: |
MINI-GRANTS (up to $750) support research activities similar to those for
Small Grants. Software purchases will be considered IF the need is
clearly tied to the research needs of the project being proposed. Mini-grants
are awarded outside the usual cycle of competition. Support is
limited to no more than two (2) mini-grants for a particular research project.
Applications will be
accepted any time between September 15, 2007 and April 21, 2008, with an earlier cut off
date if funds in this category have been exhausted. Average turn-around time
between submitting a proposal and receiving results is 2-3 weeks. |
| HOW: |
Proposal applications are submitted to the SBSRI, Social Sciences 115C. |
| WHEN: |
Sep. 15, 2007 and Apr 21, 2008, with an earlier cut off
date if funds are depleted. |
| WHO: |
Social & Behavioral Sciences Faculty and Academic
Professionals who have at least .50 FTE in the college, are tenured,
tenure-track, or equivalent. Non-tenure track SBS research faculty and
lecturers who have been employed in SBS for two consecutive years with at
least .50 FTE are eligible to apply. |
| WHAT: |
MINI-GRANT EXTENSIONS (up to $250)
may be
available to researchers who receive an SBSRI Mini-Grant and find
that they require additional funds to complete the project, IF
the original funding has already been completely spent (not just
committed), and IF the extension funds will be spent prior
to August 10th. The review committee will look most favorably upon
extensions for projects where an application has been made to an
outside funding source. No support is provided for Faculty
supplemental salary, travel to conferences, or standard equipment. |
| HOW: |
Proposal applications are submitted to the SBSRI, Social Sciences 115C. |
| WHEN: |
Anytime before noon, April 21, or earlier if funds in this category
are depleted. |
